Description

I've been inspired by the excellent Milky Way photography I have seen this summer. Whilst I don't have a DSLR, I do have an old 28mm Pentax SLR lens which I have mounted on my CCD camera.

This wide field takes in the region around the Scutum and Sagittarius star clouds - it is a region of dense stars as we look towards the centre of our galaxy, and some notable regions of H emissions - left to right, M17 the 'Swan nebula' and M16 the 'Eagle nebula', which show up as pinkish areas just below the centre of my image. Advanced plate solving in ASTAP shows a large number of DSOs (revision B)

Resolution is poor (under-sampled) with this setup but it produces a 22 degree field. There is an unsightly anomaly top-left; no flats or darks were taken.
